Tanya and Kelly in Mexico

Kelly and Tanya met in Edmonton. Tanya was done university and Kelly still had a year and half to go. After graduating from university, Kelly convinced Tanya to move to the exciting City of Prince George. Tanya had always enjoyed traveling abroad. It wasn’t long until the two went to India and Nepal. After seeing a part of the world, Kelly was hooked. A year later, the two decided to test out cycle touring in Mexico. After spending a month riding down Baja California, the two where convinced that cycle touring is the only way to travel.

The planning for a world wide cycling trip first started when the two were hiking in Nepal in 2007. As time went on, the plan got more specific, and countries were crossed off the trip. The two believe that if one is to see a country, you need to spend a lot of time in the country. They have always agreed that spending more time in less countries was best. Tanya and Kelly both believe that following a strict itinerary is not the best way to go. Instead, have a loose plan of what you want to do, book your tickets and go with the flow.

The only rigid plans are to go to India for 5 months, then catch a plane to Turkey and ride overland through Europe to Morocco and fly out of Portugal.  The blog is designed and writen for a number of people. First is the family members of Tanya and Kelly, letting Mom and Dad know where the two are and how they are doing. The next group of people are those friends of the two. The final group is other cyclists that may be interested in cycletouring. There are lessons to be learnt and any less you can gain from someone else’s mistakes is always a plus.
